Vagnoni brothers’ farm rises on the back of a fine hill in the Tuscan countries.
The farm has twenty hectares of vineyard producing several kinds of wine, as Vernaccia of San Gimignano that is one of the main products of this area as it has been the first Italian wine to have had recognized the mark D.O.C.G. in 1966.
It’s obtained by the grapes that come from the hilly ground, where are the vines that contain 100% of the vineyard “Vernaccia di San Gimignano”.
The fermentation with checked temperature last about 12-18 days into steel and cement tubs.
In 1993 Vernaccia is entered in the ambit of more quality wines achieving the mark D.O.C.G.
One the others wines, but not less important is the Chianti Colli Senesi, obtained for 90% from the grapes Sangiovese and for 10% from the grapes of Canaiolo that are made to ferment into steel tanks.
Among the products of the farm we find the Rosato Toscano made from grapes of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Prugnolo gentile, Malvasia del Chianti e Trebbiano Toscano, with wine making when cold.
Besides during the best vintage on produces two high quality wines: Vernaccia di San Gimignano Riserva “I MOCALI” and Toscana Rosso I.G.T. Supertuscans “SODI LUNGHI”.
Mocali is got from a selection of the best grapes of the wine Vernaccia di San Gimignano in the vineyard called I MOCALI from hier the name of the wine.
It makes alcoholic fermentation into French oak barrels where it stay for 11 months.
From this grapes and with 5% Chardonnay and 5% Vermentino, born another wine called FONTABUCCIO that is made 70% into stainless steel and 30% into the oak barrels for 6 months.
SODI LUNGHI instead is obtained from the grapes of Sangiovese and Canaiolo from the vineyard called “Solatio” where the vines grow with difficulty on a stony ground there the vine produces few locks of grapes obtaining so a high quality wine after a period of about 14 months mellower into to the oak barrels.
